I am a new user of WCG and upon trying to get my existing installation of BOINC to cooperate, it's not been able to get started properly.
From the FAQs: Occasionally this "Message from server: Invalid or missing account key" will appear in the message log of a new BOINC client install. The device registration process should automatically fill in the correct data, which at times does not occur when the Server message system has not transported the information across to other parts of the database. This that can be checked and fixed. 1. Find the account_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml file which is located in the BOINC data directory and look for the <authenticator> field. Compare the value to the one that is shown in your My Grid > My Profile at the BOINC account key field. If the same, report the problem on forum and ask for a technician to check if the Message system needs restarting. I've tried the rest of the troubleshooting steps in that FAQ as well. but not had any luck. I've confirmed that my account xml has the correct account key, but when logged into the website, under device manager, I don't show any devices connected. Is this is temporary issue or should I try anything else to troubleshoot? Thanks in advance! |

" if the Message system needs restarting."
This is presently a likelihood. Many report their profile changes are not being transmitted to their client either. |
