Noticed something new: 97Meg Download file

Today I noticed something new a 97 Meg download file. MIP1_00281191_2492. is this some new "work product". It is more than double the size of most tasks.

This may be one of those database files. If from the same cluster the next assigned workunit could be drawing it's input or references from that file, but it's a wild guess.

If it were the case for a lousy 1.6 hours it takes here at times, I'd be screaming bloody murder and vote on WCG feet first. As it is, the 100Mb for ARP isn't bad at all and frankly it's beyond me all this hoo-ha. Average 22 hours here is 4.5MB per computing hour. Did they not budget for the 2PB storage needed at the receiving end they should never have started the project, it's almost an insult to the volunteers who provide the computing for free.

I hear you I am sensitive to it since I use my unlimited cell phone data plan in a tethered connection which drops to 600KB/S after 15 gig (3 days max). ARP does work out to be worthwhile, I am chuffed I am close to getting my Emerald. One of my machines appears to be favored, crunching ARP probably 85% of the time.

Re: Noticed something new: 97Meg Download file

Reminds me, one of the past projects did a direct upload to the project owners instead of WCG, 5 small parts to WCG, 1 big to scientists, something like that. Something to think about v.v. ARP... thinking thinking, IIRC it was CEP2 that did this.

See 19,99 for 1TB per annum, meaning 2,000 for 1PB annual. Never to worry about backup, but far too slow for big data processing.
