On the evening of 2025-08-07 Dylan posted the following in a No Tasks thread in the BOINC Agent support forum just after a user post about lack of ARP1:
Working on it, probably will take a few hours - while I fix the issues with our Mesos cluster I descheduled new ARP work creation. and I don't think it has been turned back on yet! That was almost 3 days ago now, and I don't think much (if any) new ARP1 work had been going out for at least a day before then...So there is a reason for the more severe slowdown. Whilst the lack of work is frustrating, it has been quite interesting watching the returns rate falling off and wondering whether all the missed deadline retries would clear out before new work appeared again (so it would actually bottom out at zero!) . It looks as if that might happen if new work doesn't appear before normal WCG working hours on Monday! Cheers - Al. |

Sunday Report
2,010 units in generations up to and including 148 are presumed stuck plus 34 in generation 149. There are 21,552 units in 150, which is the current generation. We are still only 37% of the way through generation 150. There are now 12,013 units held in generation 151. 4,028 units have validated in the week, but there are 1,190,610 units to go. Work has stopped so, based on the last 5 weeks, we would complete ARP1 on 26 September 2027, but we are getting close to where the stuck units would hold the completion up. Mike |

Mike in saying workers stopped that was the case for all projects over the weekend. Source of my information https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg...d,47321_offset,280#705565

in saying workers stopped that was the case for all projects over the weekend. On the contrary, Speedy51. As you don't remember, August 2025's newsletter told us: "Thanks to the continued efforts of the scientists at WCG and Delft University of Technology, we are happy to announce that the Africa Rainfall Project (ARP) has restarted once again!" Has this been said somewhere that work for APR has officially stopped? So, we are all eagerly awaiting fresh ARP1-workunits. There are still some tasks floating around (yesterday, 101 results were returned). Adri [Edit 2 times, last edit by adriverhoef at Aug 19, 2025 10:28:21 AM] |

Hence the reason, Adri.I was asking Mike if there was an official word that work had been stopped?

My Sunday Report states the current situation. When I said work has stopped, I was referring to the fact that no work was being issued at present. Stopping can imply for ever must in view of the frequent temporary stops I would have thought that it would have been interpreted as temporary.
I would have used different phraseology if I had meant it was permanent. Mike. |

Re "work stopped"...
----------------------------------------As far as I can determine, there has been no new ARP1 work issued in the last 10+ days. Dylan (WCG tech) had turned off the ARP1 work generation stuff as a side-effect of dealing with the "full disc" problem that stopped MCM1 work generation (2025-08-06 et seq.) and I don't think it got turned back on again (possibly necessary to keep other things running until the move to Nibi, or perhaps they had planned to limit further new work until after the move and this forced their hand?) There was an unofficial notification of this action, but it was in a response Dylan made to some posts in a thread in the BOINC Agent Support forum, not exactly in a prominent place. In a situation like this I do think an official post in either the ARP1 or News forum might have helped, rather than leaving it to the volunteers to spread the news (which some of us did to some degree!)... We'll see what happens in early September, when they should be able to "spread out" on some newer hardware! Cheers - Al. [Edit 1 times, last edit by alanb1951 at Aug 20, 2025 2:27:42 AM] |

2,044 units in generations up to and including 149 are presumed stuck. There are 21,473 units in 150, which is the current generation. We are still only 37% of the way through generation 150. There are now 12,092 units held in generation 151. Only 79 units have validated in the week, but there are 1,190,531 units to go. Work has paused so, based on the last 5 weeks, we would complete ARP1 on 26 August 2028, but early 2027 would be more likely.
