Re: Work Available

This group of ARPs started flowing on the 23rd, and it is now 6 days later, 29th, so we should have a few days of resends. ENJOY !
Since this batch ended on the 26, I'm guessing the flow of most of the resends will be done on Feb 1. There will be some WU that will need further resends, but it will be a small group and only a few will get lucky.

Re: Work Available

Judging from the high proportion of double "No Reply", units are still going out to a lot of machines that are likely not to return them. Hopefully those machines are excluded from the re-sends as the deadline reduced to 3 days.

Re: Work Available

Oops, I really didn't mean to snag this one on my Win 8.1 Gaming Laptop, which doesn't run 24/7 usually. But by all means, I'll let it run to completion. smile

ARP1_0010948_136_3

Edit: And of course BOINC went into High Priority mode, for that ARP task. Have no fear ARP people. It will be finished long before the 3-day limit. biggrin

You could change the profile for that machine to exclude ARP if you want.

If you do want to turn off the machine, either wait until it reaches a 12.5% multiple (plus 0.020%) to save all work or hibernate instead of shutting down.

Re: Work Available

984 units from generation 136 have been listed as completed but only 899 have moved on a generation.

The other 85 would seem to have errored out.

Yeah, I know that Mike. I had it ticked from when I used to have that computer running 24/7, but forgot to untick ARP when I started to run it only a few hours/day. I've changed it now though, but I will finish running what I have taken onboard.

Yup, I hibernate, or rather sleep the computer almost always when I have WU's running on it. Sleep work just as well as Hibernate in this case, and the computer starts back up much faster, than with Hibernate. But in this case, I will let it run until the ARP task is done.

Edit, added: 18.5% after 3 hours. No speed demon, but it's reliable.

Mike,

Check generation 135... It moved 84 units into 136, and there's then a discrepancy of one as regards units moving from 136 to 137 [which seems more likely :-) ...]

By the way, one or two of my recent wingmen have been returning Error (SIGSEGV) for units that actually end up validated by the rest of us. So not every error is obviously step-size related, it seems.

Cheers - Al.

P.S. I must get round to scripting the checks I'm currently doing manually - a few days ago I completely misread one of the generation.txt entries and ended up with a large error in my checking worksheet then spent ages trying to find the error before I spotted the typo! To err is human...

[]Edit: rephrased the SIGSEGV paragraph[

Re: Work Available

Sorry, my analysis was wrong. It is just one unit that has errored out.

I update generations.txt daily but only retain the Sunday versions which are programmed to provide my Sunday Reports, including the forecast.

Concluded that, too, from some of the workunits that got passed along. biggrin

Observed SIGSEGV: segmentation violation twice in the past few days below:

ARP1_0019460_138_1 Linux Ubuntu Error 2023-01-25T17:23:54 2023-01-26T18:41:32 7.66/7.70 263.4/0.0
Devicename: Ryzen-OneHorseShay
Logfile:

process exited with code 193 (0xc1, -63)</message>

ARP1_0030786_139_1 Linux Ubuntu Error 2023-01-25T22:55:24 2023-01-26T18:41:32 6.94/6.97 221.2/0.0
Devicename: Ryzen-OneHorseShay
Logfile:

This wingman got me worried, instead they (the other tasks in the workunit) ran fine elsewhere.
