Re: Work Available

Thank you, Kevin.

6 days have passed since the last report. In that time, the hindmost laggard has moved on 1 generation to generation 005.

44,987 units have been validated in the last 6 days (7,498 per day), compared with 91,468 results returned, so we have a few extra awaiting validation.

089 is the latest generation identified as labelled 'priority'. I will base this response on that. If anyone knows of a later batch please advise and I will adjust my figures.

10.4% of the units are in the priority generations. Maybe 090 should be joining their ranks.

There are now 3,238,564 units to be crunched to finish the project. The average number of results returned over the last 10 days is down slightly to 15,540.6 per day so my target for completion is now calculated as 13 November 2022. This assumes no invalids or errors are included in those returns. I suspect we are unlikely to see the project finish before the end of 2022.

Mike

Re: Work Available

I received a task from the 90 batch at 09:41 UTC this morning and the deadline for completion for that and my wingman's task is 3.5 days.

I also haven't received any tasks since then on my Ryzen and so it is the only task running on that PC (dedicated to ARP with 4 concurrent tasks allowed to run).

I haven't been able to get work for the last six hours on a Ryzen 3600.
ARP is the only one running on it also. I will be out of work on one core in about an hour.

EDIT: Now I received one. The drought may be over, though it is just a _2 resend.

Re: Work Available

Following on from the last 2 posts, I would remind crunchers that it is not recommended to run more than half of your threads on any one machine with ARP. A maximum of 1 spare should be held. The remaining threads can be used for other projects at the same time. More spares can be held for them.

geophi, thank you for advising that you have received a 090 with priority. I presume that it was not a resend. My stats will be updated in a few days.

The 90 priority is not a resend.

On a Ryzen 3600, you have 12 virtual cores, or six full cores.
That is what I use.

Or at least, would like to use. I now have one core running on empty.
Time for a backup.

Re: Work Available

All my machines have trouble to get ARP1 WUs since this morning; the last received at 2021-09-24; 10:48 UTC; but the problems started much earlier in the day.
Cheers,
Yves

Re: Work Available

The problem is probably because there are only 35,609 units all told. 2 copies of each so 71,218 to be downloaded and about 15,000 being returned each day. That means they are taking 4.6 days on average to be returned.

However, it is not quite so simple as that. At any one time, there are loads of results awaiting validation. Those units cannot be progressed to the next generation because their wingmen haven't been returned.

Far too many are being held in cache which slows down the creation of new units.

Jim 1348 I am pleased to hear that you only run 6 ARP on your 12 thread machine, You could use the other 6 threads for other projects. You should only hold a maximum of 7 ARP at any one time.

Re: Work Available

Thanks, but I have been running my machines for a long time and know what I can do best with them.

You can do whatever you want but its not very efficient. Running on all cores threads doubles the runtime so you throughput on arp is probably the same as if you run arp only on half of your cores threads and other projects on the other half of the cores.

Maybe the new ryzen generation solves the problem with huge L3 Cache :)
