Hi.
Did anyone think about BOINCStats (and similar sites) or BOINCcombined? Those sites only work if you have the same username on all projects iirc. Regards Ciannicay |

Did anyone think about BOINCStats (and similar sites) or BOINCcombined? Those sites only work if you have the same username on all projects iirc. BOINCStats and account managers use cross project id which is based on email address so there should not be any issues there. Thanks, armstrdj |

Hi, you've stated that current volunteers don't need to change, can you detail this a bit more in 2 ways: login name will continue to work for.. everything? (Logging into the site, and new boinc clients etc?) Also, do you plan to keep this state forever? will new volunteers that choose a username also be able to use it for logging in everywhere?
And the other way around, if I'd rather use my email and forget about my username for logging in, can I do that too? Can I mix both (log in with one then the other etc)? How do I change the username in my boinc client? I don't plan to need these answers right away, but that was what I thought as I read the announcement. |

If one is using the API to collect (ones own) usage statistics, will that continue to use the username as at present? Yes you are correct that api will continue to use username and verification code. Thanks, armstrdj Thanks for the clarification - Al. |

After the August 28th switch over to email-based login, usernames will no longer be used to login. Your email address and password will be required to login on the website and new BOINC clients.Also, do you plan to keep this state forever? Only your email address and password will be required at login, not a username. You will not be able to choose if you want to login with a username or email address.How do I change the username in my boinc client? You can change your username on your My Profile page. After the 28th, you will still not be able to create a new World Community Grid account from the BOINC Manager.
