Re: Please Read - Switching to Email-Based Login

If one is using the API to collect (ones own) usage statistics, will that continue to use the username as at present?

Currently, the security check requires the username and password, the member verification requires the username and verification code and the path for data fetching contains the username with the verification code in the parameter part. Given the remarks about needing a username to make stats public or to participate in teams, I'm guessing that that won't change, but I'd like clarification one way or the other so I can fix my code if necessary!

Thanks in anticipation - Al.

Re: Please Read - Switching to Email-Based Login

Is that why I'm getting "not connected to client" message and not working since few days now?

Re: Please Read - Switching to Email-Based Login

There's a note in red in my WCG profile that one of WCG's e-mails to me last year was refused by my ISP as possible SPAM and that "You must enter a different and valid email address before we will attempt to send you email again."

I've no intention of changing my e-mail address just to receive communications from WCG. I presume the current one will still be valid for log-ins?

Re: Please Read - Switching to Email-Based Login

So after August 28, login will require using your email address (instead of user name) plus password to login. Is that how it works?
Yes. After August 28th, logging in will require you to use the email address associated with your member account. We strongly encourage all members to check that their email address is up to date before August 28th.

Re: Please Read - Switching to Email-Based Login

Will there be a time period when both login identities will work?

The existing "Forgot Username" feature will be replaced with "Forgot email address" and you will be able to enter in your username and password and get your email address. You can then use that email address and your password to login.
Please note that in order to use the new 'forgot email address' tool that will be in place after August 28th, your member account will have to have a username.

We will be adding new FAQs with this information when the change over occurs.

Thank you,
ErikaT

No, there have been no changes made that would cause this issue. Please contact support for assistance with this.

Please see Kevin's post here regarding issues where the email provider is considering World Community Grid emails spam. It will not affect your ability to log in to your member account.

Thank you,

Re: Please Read - Switching to Email-Based Login

Is there a precise time (either local or UTC) when the switch will occur?
Will there be a time period when both login identities will work?

There is not a set time as there is no outage expected for this change. This will not effect attached clients. There will not be any overlap where both identities will work.
Thanks,
armstrdj
