Would have been the fastest computer in the world in 2010 - and only cost $5k plus dedicated software - which if I recall correctly someone here has already tried on a smaller scale with WCG https://spectrum.ieee.org/tech-talk/computing...omputer-from-amazon-cloud

A meeting place for members to chat and discuss device hardware they use to run World Community Grid. - They do already, right here in the Hardware Chat Room . Maybe I should have posted it in response to that thread, but the cited article is slightly different in the way it eliminates hardware. Home-hosted hardware might be made redundant in the future, if cloud costs keep falling, it might be more cost efficient to use shared hardware in the cloud. |
