Strange timestamp display issue under Ubuntu

Timestamps in the BOINC Manager Event Log display in one of two different formats, randomly switch between the two, and I've recently seen a group of messages alternate repeatedly between the two forms as I watch, touching nothing and while seemingly nothing else was going on. I've no idea if this is a BOINC issue or an Ubuntu issue, but no OS updates seem to have made any difference. So, I'm wondering if any of the good folks on this forum can shed any light on this for me.

The two forms I see are
Mon 22 Jul 2019 22:22:54 BST

and
Mon Jul 22 22:22:54 2019

The version with BST in it seems to be the most common, but I can scroll through the messages and find a small group with the other format. If I then scroll them off the screen and back on, they usually come back on in the BST format. Duh?

I would guess that the BST format is the local language format, and the other is the "native" format. I can only assume that something is not always getting enough cycles to "translate" the format properly. But why? And, if it is a BOINC bug, can anything be done about it? And, if it's an Ubuntu problem, what (if anything) can I do about it?

Help and comments, please!

Re: Strange timestamp display issue under Ubuntu

Please do always mention the version of the (BOINC) software that you're using.

I recall seeing this behaviour a long(ish) time ago, but I haven't seen it anymore since BOINC was updated several times or many months ago.

My version:
$ rpm -q boinc-client
boinc-client-7.14.2-17.fc29.x86_64

Re: Strange timestamp display issue under Ubuntu

My version is listed as
Package: boinc-client
Version: 7.6.31+dfsg-6ubuntu1
and is the current version in the repository (which Keith advised me to stick with).

If you think it's a bug which has been fixed in a later release then that's fine and I'll just wait for it to filter up. It's not a showstopper.

Thanks for your input.

Your copy runs off 3.3 years old code, wishing godspeed on getting a new repo build soon for your distro.
