New BOINC project testing

Friends, will you help me to test a project please?
Non-CPU intensive (but may be very internet-intensive, so unlimited plan is recommended).
Virtualbox is not required.
This is a I2P Project in BOINC.
Any suggestions and advice are welcome!

Re: New BOINC project testing

This project causes Windows firewall violations, is ill-defined as to its purpose and is not a project approved by BOINC at Berkeley.

If you choose to try it ... BEWARE!!!

Re: New BOINC project testing

This is a network project. The firewall should ask questions about the network. Firewall may ask you about incoming connections. What exactly caused your discontent?

Re: New BOINC project testing

From what I can understand, it looks like this project is meant to run i2p routers over BOINC, which doesn't make much sense to me. However, running i2p routers would ask for firewall connections, as they need to accept incoming connections to route them somewhere else.

The main issue with this project page is it does nothing to actually explain its purpose, nor what it is actually doing, which is why people are reacting the way they are.

Re: New BOINC project testing

I2P is not well known, but its existed since 2003 and everything I know about it sounds legit to me. It's a competing system similar to TOR. It's open source so source code is viewable, but the creators use pseudonyms as they don't want to be identified. You can read more about the project on their wikipedia page.

This user project posted here however which is trying to run I2P routers I know nothing about their intentions.

Re: New BOINC project testing

You are absolutely right!
I suggested that if a person is interested, he will open the link and read what I2P is. If he is not interested, no one forces him to do it. Now I have tested the operation of the I2P node in BOINC. This already provides the ability to use the I2P network, which is already a good thing. Now the early stage of testing is directly written on the home page of the site. Thanks for your answer!
