I've run several hundred of these now between six different boxes with different configs (including servers from 2011, newer processors with limited memory, and non-BOINC dedicated windows boxes). They all seem to be well behaved - no reported errors. RAM usage between 60-80 MB ram - usually around 70 MB, but with a couple of outliers. They appear to take .5-.75 hours on my newer processors and just over an hour on processors from 2011 and 2012. Points seem to be consistent with considering the amount of the work done and the time spent. The time estimates are a bit high, as much as 3x longer than the unit will actually take. That said, it doesn't bother me too much since I mostly run boxes dedicated to BOINC, and the due dates/times are far enough out that it wouldn't cause them to be late.

I have 16 androids and one server running right now (due to the summer heat). So far these 17 systems have completed 600+ SCC beta work units. The android work units averaged around 3 to 5 hours to completion and the server averaged .5 to 1 hours to completion. So far all finished work units are valid. (I still have some outstanding "pending validation" work units).

I have had tasks of run from 0.9 to 3.02 hours on a I 7 5960 X at 3.48 GHz Turbo boost running windows 10 Pro 1809.
----------------------------------------@DrMason I am curious to know what processor type your task ran for .5 of an hour? |

Hey there Speedy51
----------------------------------------It looks like it was an AMD Ryzen 7 1700, 8gb of ddr4 2133 RAM. I've noticed that the amount of work in each task is pretty variable. That same box returned results as long as 1.1 hours, with the average looking to be around .8 hours. So, I'm guessing it was just a light task and the processor not crunching too many MIB and FAH tasks at the same time |

I had a look at my tasks and both be .9 and 3.02 hour tasks both consisted of 1 jobs |

One point I'd like to make about workunit BETA_SCC1_0003336_OPN-b_A_80034:
I got the final resend, which became necessary because two Mac clients came to inconsistent results. One was using Darwin 17.7.0, the other 10.8.0. The latter was marked as invalid when my result was returned — my client is also on 17.7.0. It's my observation that Darwin 10 and to a lesser extent Darwin 11 produce a lot of invalids when their results are compared to those from newer version. My guess would be that the application is optimised for one or several changes in the OS which were never backported to these older versions. I don't know if fixing that would be worth the effort. Is it possible to set minimum OS versions for workunits? |
