Hi Crunchers,
Looking for some info / advice, I am planning to change my WCG team. I have started Folding for a new team now after a long break because my previous FAH team seems to have all but died and the WCG team is only into Formula BOINC now. I am hoping you can help me with a few questions: 1. Do I need to stop my crunchers before clicking “Join” on the new team page? 2. What about WU’s already in progress or assigned to me? 3. Will I lose all my points and badges (as is case for FAH)? Thanks. |

Hi Russ,
When you change teams, all runtime/points/results from that point on will accumulate against your new team as well as against you. All those you acquired for your previous team will remain theirs, and yours. Basically, everything is duplicated -- one set is yours, the other set belong to the team you were a member of at the time. You can jump ship at any point, without needing to worry about what your machine(s) are doing. (And I hope you're thinking of joining team UK ...) |

Russ,
----------------------------------------From a stats viewpoint the team process is very simple and straightforward : when the team stats are run every day at 23:59:59 UTC all the points, time and results you have validated during that day since 00:00:00 UTC are added to your current team's stats. Said another way, whether you switched to your new team at 8 in the morning or at a quarter to midnight it's your new team which will get credited with all the work you have validated during that day. Therefore, as you can guess now, all this has no influence at all on the actual process of your WUs in your machine(s). |

Thanks for all the info - I have joined my new team and all is well.
Was a bit worried as when I moved teams in FAH (twice), had to start from zero points (although the old teams retain your points - there is no personal view of all points since starting). |

The WCG team is only into Formula BOINC now. Russ Sorry to see you go. I wouldn't say "Only into FB". Some are just taking a break and doing crunching for other projects. Best of Luck ![]() ![]() |

Changing teams is absolutely painless You just press that JOIN button, and you even get an e-mail from WCG promptly, asking you if you are sure you meant to do what you just did and all your production remains untouched with yourself and divided between your old team and your new one as per the next update at midnight UTC. - I have been to 46 so far, several of them more than once ![]() |
