I downloaded and installed the Android app yesterday and have allowed it to run while on battery. I set the battery level threshold to 50% in preferences but the app keeps suspending itself well before the battery level gets to 50%. I have looked in the events log and am seeing “suspending network activity - battery level low” and “(battery charge level 0.0% <threshold 50.0%)”
----------------------------------------My phone is only a few months old so I am pretty sure the phone itself is correctly reading and reflecting the battery charge level. Which means it’s the app that isn’t. The phone is showing 64% charge right now but the app started suspending itself over an hour ago. Is this a known issue and if so, is there a fix coming as this is not ideal. ![]() |

I would have to try using battery, as any of my androids that I use for crunching are set to only crunch on power and not battery, and they are plugged in constantly as dedicated crunchers. I know the BOINC apk for android is very old (3 July 2016 release according to Berkeley), and if your phone is newer it is probably running android 8 or 9. So maybe BOINC is not reading the parameters correct. I remember talk of a new BOINC for android in development, but do not think there was an ETA at the time. Not much help I know. Maybe try reporting a bug in the BOINC forums.

I'm running Android 4.1 and it happens on specific phones for some reason. I just have to crunch on wall power and not check battery power (or 0%?). That's the only way to no get those smartphones suspended. I have about 35 running and I'd say 3-4 have this odd behavior. Its not specific to a smartphone model... maybe it is low quality battery, bad hardware design, or something funky with Android or BOINC code.

Thanks for the feedback. I don’t like crunching while charging as my phone tends to get hotter than it does crunching on battery. Not sure why that is but I don’t want to damage my phone. Will go see if anyone can help at the boinc forums.
