I've had an Amazon Fire (5th gen) tablet for about a year and just downloaded BOINC (7.4.53) a couple of days ago and returned 8 results. I don't know how long this problem has been going on but I've noticed that the 2 WUs will be "running" for about 8-10 seconds and then switch to "suspended" for about 1 second and then return to "running" and repeating that cycle. It happens whether I'm plugged in or running on battery. I'm only running 2 of the 4 cores and have no heat issues at all. I've checked the log and don't see anything there. I have BOINC running on 2 computers with no problems for years. Any ideas on what is going on?

I've only run BOINC on PCs, but I would guess that you not only have "Use at most 50% of the CPUs" but also "Use at most 90% of CPU time". I would suspect it is the latter which is causing the occasional stops. If it's not that, then I would suspect heat protection kicking in and dropping out again.
But maybe someone with more experience of tablets can shed more light. |

In your advanced preferences, check the option that says "pause at cpu usage above xx%. change that to 0 which means never, and see if that fixes it.

You hit the nail on the head. I changed the CPU time to !00% and it no longer suspends. I also changed the CPU usage to "0". Runs faster too!! I'm only running 2 of the 4 cores right now to see if there are any heat issues. Maybe in about a week I'll switch to all 4 cores and see how that works. Thanks for your help!!!! :)

With all 4 cores going you may have heat issues. It really depends on how the tablet is constructed. If the processor is located around the battery, it will heat the battery up real quick and BOINC will pause to let the battery cool down. If it is far enough away from the battery, you should be ok.

I think I'll hold off on trying all 4 cores until the next challenge and then I'll watch the temps. I'm not really concerned about losing the tablet because I rarely use it but I don't want to start a fire with my Fire. :) Thanks for your help.
