Hello,
----------------------------------------There is a small issue with the Linux client that is annoying and hopefully there is a quick fix for it. Looking at the task list, which is sorted by progress percentage, the currently running tasks are at the top of the list. After the client updates with WCG the task list is automatically scrolled to the bottom of the list. Can this behavior be changed so that the list stays at the top? I know I can simply scroll to the top but with a 32 thread computer and 2 days of tasks buffered, this is an inconvenience. I'm using Boinc Manager V7.6.33(x64), wxWidgets V3.0.2 ![]() |

Hi,
----------------------------------------1. Try to upgrade to a newer release, such as 7.10.2 for Linux, and see if the problem persists. 2. Look at the BOINC GitHub repository and see if this is a known Issue that's being worked on. 3. If it's not known, open up a new Issue. :)

It's still an issue, though inconsistent, in the 7.9.3 linux client that ships with Linux Mint 19.

Or just get used to having the largest percent at the bottom of the page & it won't flip on you.

Thanks hchc, all good points. The version I'm using is what is in LMDE3's repository, I cannot find 7.10.2 anywhere. can someone post a link?
----------------------------------------Looked through github but found nothing relating to this issue as yet, still have 15 pages to browse through. Some interesting problems, not that I have encountered them. Wasted nearly 2hrs reading about problems I don't have :) Aurum420, I like your thinking and even though the list is inverted, I'm doing that for now. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Darkmatter.NI at Dec 3, 2018 8:24:54 PM] |

----------------------------------------Thanks hchc, all good points. The version I'm using is what is in LMDE3's repository, I cannot find 7.10.2 anywhere. can someone post a link? There may be hope! Disclaimer: I'm a beginner to Linux, but this might work since you say you're using LMDE3. I'm using Debian 9 (Stretch), which is likely what your version of LMDE is based on. Out of the box, the version of BOINC ships with is 7.6.33. Package: boinc (7.6.33+dfsg-12) But in the Debian Stretch "backports" repository, it's kept much more up-to-date: Package: boinc (7.10.2+dfsg-2~bpo9+1) General introduction to what Backports are: https://backports.debian.org/ Introduction You are running Debian stable, because you prefer the Debian stable tree. It runs great, there is just one problem: the software is a little bit outdated compared to other distributions. This is where backports come in. Backports are packages taken from the next Debian release (called "testing"), adjusted and recompiled for usage on Debian stable. Because the package is also present in the next Debian release, you can easily upgrade your stable+backports system once the next Debian release comes out. (In a few cases, usually for security updates, backports are also created from the Debian unstable distribution.) Backports cannot be tested as extensively as Debian stable, and backports are provided on an as-is basis, with risk of incompatibilities with other components in Debian stable. Use with care! It is therefore recommended to only select single backported packages that fit your needs, and not use all available backports. It takes only a few seconds for their Instructions: 1. Add stretch-backports to your sources.list So use nano or your favorite text editor to edit the file: sudo nano / etc/apt/sources.list (without the spaces around etc) and add this line: deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian stretch-backports main (Of course save and exit.) 2. Upgrade BOINC from 7.6.33 to 7.10.2. sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -t stretch-backports install boinc Done! I've had no issues with stability by using the latest version of BOINC from Backports, as Debian stable tends to be slightly old. This isn't necessarily going to solve your original problem, but at least it lets you use the latest BOINC release on Linux to see if your problem is fixed.

Mint 19 is actually based on Ubuntu 18.04, there aren't any Debian repositories in the sources.
----------------------------------------It's quite possible, and not overly hard, to upgrade the client manually, just a bit of a pest if it turns out the new client depends on something newer than what's in the regular repos. ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |

Darkmatter.NI is using LMDE, which is Linux Mint Debian Edition, which is based differently than regular Linux Mint. Debian --> Ubuntu --> Linux Mint Debian --> Linux Mint Debian Edition (totally skips Ubuntu). This is why I think he may have luck with this.

Thanks again hchc, upgraded to 7.10.2 as per your instructions with no difficulties. Unfortunately the issue still exists. I will raise it as a bug on github if there is not one already.
----------------------------------------Thank you everyone for taking the time to help, it is much appreciated. ![]() |

Go https://launchpad.net/~costamagnagianfranco/+archive/ubuntu/boinc
This is the place where the debian package maintainer puts his builds, 7.12 the latest. |
