I've had the same task running for over 75 hours 30 minutes and for at least the last 24 hours it's been stuck on 24%. The task is Human Proteome Folding Project. My CPU usage has been above 90% and going toward the WCG. I've stopped and restarted WCG as well as rebooted my computer.
I'm running a T42 w/ 2GB memory and no known problems outside of WCG. Any ideas what to do or is there a way of skipping this particular project execution and going on to the next one? Thanks, -Thomas Patten |

The task is up to 27% now. I really didn't do anything other than close some internet explorer windows that had been open quite awhile. I'll keep a watch on it and if it pauses again, I'll uninstall and reinstall it to see if that helps.
Thanks for your reply. |

What was in the IE windows? If you were looking at pages that had those annoying flash adverts they would have been eating processor cycles. The WCG agant does tend to be quite accurate and linear in its notification of % complete. If it was 'stuck' on 24% then I think something else was competing for CPU time.

The World Community Grid software runs at the lowest priority on your system (that of the idle process). Anything else that is running on your system will be serviced before the work unit being processed. It sounds very likely that something on your system is eating up the cycles. I would not be very surprised if it was some kind of malware or spyware. Have you run your anti-virus software recently to see if somehow something has gotten into your system and is eating up the cycles? Also, there are several software packages out there to address spyware problems. Several are listed in the Useful Utilities thread in the FAQ forum. You might want to try one to clean off any spyware.
