I am currently running two projects: astro analysis and cancer markers search. I have computer settings set to swap tasks after 60 minutes but this does not seem to be happening. Whatever is running stays running until I say 'pause' and then reactivate the other project. Is the setting for something else?

Is this a new or established client?
----------------------------------------Was 1 project added or resumed recently? PS: If balance is established, tasks will not 'swap' until a checkpoint is made on or after that 60 minute, presuming the 'project weight' is equal, default 100 each. Edit: How the scheduling is supposed to work, noting that manual intervention stops BOINC from learning the project task characteristics. https://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/ClientSched [Edit 3 times, last edit by Former Member at Oct 30, 2018 9:35:55 AM] |

I think (not 100% sure) that it won't swap to a second task if the first one is more important.
Assume you have two tasks with everything the same (project priority, amount of computational time left to do, etc.) but the first task as a due date a day from now and the second task is due a month from now. Every 60 minutes it will CHECK to see which are the more important task(s) to be working on. If there is nothing more important than is already being being worked on, it will not switch to another task(s). |
