Download failed?

Anyone else experiencing some workunits failing to download? I just saw one fail to download but looking at my results status it's not the only one.

Looking at the second computer that received my failed workunit it also failed with the same file missing.

Re: Download failed?

Hi,

I had similar repeated failures on MIP some time ago - see thread:
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,41123
I have not noticed any recently though.
Maybe you will have better luck good luck in getting an answer.

Re: Download failed?

Sounds like a bad build of the WU. The techs should catch this and, if appropriate, will re-build it and either throw it back into the mix or run it in-house. It's certainly not something to worry about.

Re: Download failed?

Got a whole string of failed download errors on two machines that fetched work around the same time: 12/8/19 between 22:36 and 22:46 UTC (5:36-5:46 PM CST).

Two errors:

File mip1.MIP1_00274392.2 error'd out for several people around the following times:

2/6/2020 @ 20:43 - 20:52 UTC (2:43 - 2:52 PM CST)

Later people who retrieved the file were able to download it successfully. I'm thinking there was a brief hiccup around this time.

Does the work server or some other server need to be looked at?

Re: Download failed?

Can a tech please investigate why we're getting -119 download failures?

I'm seeing several members failing on the same work units with the same -119 error message. I find it hard to believe it's something related to my equipment. I was not getting these errors at all on SCC before work ran out.

Four -119 failures today - #4 is me.

Re: Download failed?

Error: -119 (md5 checksum failed for file)

Most known BOINC errors are listed here: https://boinc.mundayweb.com/wiki/index.php?ti...nt_Errors_and_Error_Codes

The errors are split in With and Without minus sign but forgot the significance, something like one being client side and the other external.

Edit: Found the answer, 3 digit minus signed errors are client, without is the science app, 8-9 digit minus signed are too. https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=7156
