Forum clock is behind by 1 hour

The forum says it is currently 11:17 PM ("Current timezone is -5"), but the actual time right now is 12:17 AM EDT. This means the forum server clock is behind by one hour.

[Edited to Add. Eastern Standard Time is UTC-5. Eastern Daylight Time is UTC-4. There's nowhere in the user settings to account for daylight savings.]

Is this maybe because the forum software is so old that it still uses really old settings for when Daylight Savings starts and ends in the USA? I think it changed sometime around 2007.

From Daylight Saving Time 2018: A Guide to the When, Why, What and How

Starting in 2007, DST begins in the United States on the second Sunday in March, when people move their clocks forward an hour at 2 a.m. local standard time (so at 2 a.m. on that day, the clocks will then read 3 a.m. local daylight time). Daylight saving time ends on the first Sunday in November, when clocks are moved back an hour at 2 a.m. local daylight time (so they will then read 1 a.m. local standard time).

I'll have to double-check this, but the Statistics servers may be off an hour as well.

Re: Forum clock is behind by 1 hour

In DST time you have to choose a timezone 1 hour east of you... the system does not understand summertime.

PS. Read that Europe is working on making summertime permanent, which will mean that those in London have to choose Paris, which is funny, considering Brexit, or maybe not, but then there will be 5 months of 2 hours time difference between London and Paris, with just 200 miles between them. LOL

Two suggestions, joneill003:
1. Join me at the Association against DST
- annual meeting on the internet between 02:00 and 03:00 the last Sunday of March (your changeover may vary)
2. Join SNURK and friends again for some four days.
- we need you and everyone else badly crying
