Well that was an unexpected outage this morning.
Looks like things are back up at the moment and my clients have started resuming normal operation without me having to do anything. Always nice when I don't have to do anything. One thing worth considering maybe... when everything went down the website had a message saying there was a problem and had a "Contact Us" link. The link wouldn't work and just bounced back to the problem page with the "Contact Us" link again. Maybe a better method of contacting WCG if this happens again. Just a thought... |

The firewall between our servers and the SAN storage that stores our database data experienced an issue this morning. It took awhile to sort out what was going on. We are now running on the backup firewall while they work with the vendor to figure out what failed in the primary firewall. However, these activities shouldn't impact us.
We are running the stats update right now to catch up on everything since that failed during the issue. You are correct about the contact us. Doesn't make sense to link to a non-functional page. We will get that changed. Thanks for your patience during the outage. |

The IBM team quickly sent (right after the caffeine was activated in their bloodstreams, I suspect) updates regarding this short outage, through the official facebook and twitter WCG accounts. To be bookmarked if you haven't already done so =:) ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Pierre A Renaud at Sep 21, 2018 3:29:15 PM] |

For the information of those who do not subscribe to Facebook & Twitter, could we also have a posting on BOINC, please?

For the information of those who do not subscribe to Facebook & Twitter, could we also have a posting on BOINC, please? Mike You don't have subscribe to see tweets or Facebook posts. But the posts on Facebook and Twitter could be more timely. I posted to both hours before there was any updates. |
