New Microsoft Windows Security Update - 11 October 2005

It's the second Tuesday of the month, so Microsoft has released its new patches. After rebooting to be sure my computer was in a known good state, I downloaded 6 security patches for Windows XP, a cumulative security patch for Internet Explorer and the October Malicious Software Removal Tool. There was nothing for Office and no optional patches for my computer. They all installed without any problems. Then I rebooted again and went back to normal.

The updates are the easy bit - just installed Win 2k on an old machine and it won't recognise the ethernet card confused

Installed Linux on a similar machine and not only did it recognise the card, it installed relevant drivers and connected to the internet and my home network! biggrin
