Mysterious pre-hispanic musical calculator

Ok, I know this has nothing to do with WCG.
But, I know many statisticians, mathematicians and computer-savvy scientists visit this forum, so I thought I would post it just for interest´s sake.
Yesterday I went to a musical instrument museum. The very first glass cabinet contained this intriguing piece, only about seven inches tall, carved out of volcanic basalt.
I am not sure if it is an actual wind instrument, or merely a representation of one

It is known the ancient people of South America used a type of horizontal abacus known as a yupana. Yupana users utilized the Fibonacci series and base 40 (sometimes 10) that in skilled hands could be used in a way that outperforms a modern pocket calculator, according to the yupana article referenced here:

Now, if you look at the instrument, in the 4 x 5 square boxes, running left to right, you will see these holes are perforated according to the Fibonacci series. Are they whistle holes? Is it a musical instrument, or a calculator, or both? In a book sold at the museum itself, the first entry describes the piece as an "unstudied musical abacus" from Bolivia, which may have been used to produce "coded music".

A rather intriguing combination of mathematics and music, that perhaps someone on this forum can fathom.
