I use Custom Settings because I use CPU only. However, my preferences don't save and they revert to Maximum Output. Because of this the BOINC Agent looks for GPU work units, or tries to download work units and they disappear before being fully downloaded and ran.

Are you trying to use the custom profile under the device profiles under the Device manager tab ? And are you hitting the save button at the bottom of the screen on the custom profile page ? Cheers
