I've been a member for a couple of years, recruited by a close friend - installed the agent on my work computer which is idle a lot of the time, and more or less forgot about it. This is a machine running an older version of SuSE Linux plus VMWare.
About a month ago, I was using the machine and found the windowing system was almost totally unresponsive. When I went to look at the top processes, I discovered that BOINC was using something like 90% of the CPU. I'd never seen this before, but after looking around at some forums, I decided to modify my device profile so that the machine would only run BOINC at night when I wasn't there. I had no further performance issues, but then my friend emailed me that I hadn't returned any results in a month. I figured this must have something to do with my having updated the profile. I reset the profile to the default profile. However, as far as I can tell, it is still not returning results. Any suggestions? I saw one forum post where someone showed an event log. How can I see this? Thanks very much! Best, Sally |

Sally, to view the event log, just start 'boincmgr' (Boinc Manager) on your computer and then type Ctrl+Shift+E or click through the menu: Tools→Event Log.
----------------------------------------It shouldn't be too hard, but when you have opened the window with the event log, you can select lines from it. You could then copy your selection (or you might even "Copy All") and paste them into a message (e.g. here on the forum ) and maybe get more help that way.[Edit 6 times, last edit by adriverhoef at Jun 4, 2018 11:49:17 AM] |

Can you be a bit more precise what exactly you mean by "not returning results"?
Where/how are you checking this? Ralf |
