I DLed the Obyte platform from Obyte.org for Linux and when I extract it I do not find any instructions on how to install it. Can someone please point me to instructions that work for Linux Mint??? TIA

TIA Uncompress the zip in a folder in your home directory. Then double-click on the file called 'obyte' (the binary one that weights around 800KB), click on 'make executable and launch', the app will start. For next launch, you should find Obyte application directly in the menu. When there is an update, download the new zip, delete the old folder and uncompress the new one on same place. You won't lose your wallet data since it's saved in another directory (~/.config/obyte). Always make a backup (setting -> full backup), because if you lose private key, your funds are lost forever. |

Thanks Papabyte. I thought I'd tried that before but I probably tried it on the wrong of the two Obyte files. To me a user-friendly installation would look like:
----------------------------------------sudo dpkg -i Obyte Storj uses WatchTower to automatically update their node code. Sure beats DLing, unzipping, deleting etc. I haven't seen an Obyte distribution in a week on my Win7 rig. ...KRI please cancel all shadow-banning |

My Obyte wallet is dead. I upgraded to 2.8.0 but it's still dead. I tried going to discord but it's the worst website on earth. It refuses to let me login and is stuck in a "Claim Your Account" infinite loop. I already had an account so why can't I log in???

I submitted a support ticket and they showed me how to delete the bogus unclaimed account and login to my old account. I'll ask for help restoring my dead Obyte wallet there so I can post the huge error message.

The Obyte wallet for Linux is now distributed as appImage:
