Hello dear crunchers! Other BOINC project's (like POGS and SETI) have badges saying for example "Top 25% in average credit", which is cool and very informative. I know right away my current level of recent contribution compared to an average user. This "Top 25% level" is a "bronze badge", top 5% is silver, and top 1% is gold. Is there a way to calulate which badge I would have at WCG? I know there is "Avg. Points Per Calendar Day" at stats page and tons of other numbers and surely they are exact but still they leave me wondering how much is that...? I wish WCG would give this information as a badge or easy to understand numbers.

You'll need to go to one of the external sites for that. Boincstats can show you your WCG stats, as well as those for other projects. The page at https://boincstats.com/en/stats/15/user/detail/973286 shows that you have accumulated more credit than 98.66404% of all World Community Grid Users, for example.

Boincstats keeps a column on their website listing average credit. It is sortable by ascending and descending values. I think it is the average credit as calculated over the last 30 days. As of today April 17, 2018 it shows 54160 users who have an average of at least 1. The top 25% have an average daily credit of 1,130 or greater. The top 10% have an average daily credit of 3,257 or greater. It is easy to calculate your percentage place using this site or other secondary BOINC stats sites.

Thank you Apis Tintinnambulator, that site is so full of numbers, but it is very useful once you get used to it. :)
----------------------------------------Thank you too Sgt. Joe, your instructions were very helpful once I learned to navigate that page and to do the math, but I still hope someone at WCG would code it into WCG stats page so everyone interested in that information shouldn't need to go to other site and start clicking around and to play with calculator... (you surely did some clicking for me Sgt. Joe, I appreciate it!). With your examples I was able to verify my findings and it seems you'll need average daily credit of BOINC points around 19,800 to "get" the "gold badge" (top 1%), around 5,700 points for "silver badge" (top 5%), and like you said 1,130 points for "bonze badge" (top 25%). I realise these figures are supposed to change by the time. It should be noted that WCG stats page shows rather useless value of all time average daily points while BOINC Manager software show recent value which is needed to evaluate the current level of the calculation power donated. Thank you both for quick replies, now I know what those numbers really mean (recent average credit), and it seems I'd get the silver badge, wow! :) [Edit 1 times, last edit by Halo Jones at Apr 17, 2018 6:48:55 PM] |
