unable to add WGC as a project

After a clean reinstall of BOINC, I cannot add WGC as a project. Log is telling me:

15.02.18 11:31:47 | | Fetching configuration file from http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/get_project_config.php

15.02.18 11:31:49 | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site

I do not have any problems when directly accessing the site with my browser.

How to solve this?
