Good Morning Good Morning Good Morning (along the Greenwich Meridian anyway biggrin )

Spent yesterday evening fighting a (Plug and play rolling eyes) USB Bluetooth Adaptor into life, we just can't get enough of that 2.4Ghz in our house wink. So I've missed out on the celebrations. My Coffee stays warm all by itself now

Congrats first to Parmesian on becoming a MOT Millionaire that really takes some doing, that's a lot of points, and requires a fair few PC's to reach a total like that along with some serious commitment. Great Crunching Parmesian applause our 12th (count them 12!!!!) Millionaire, WTG on the WCG

A BIG MOT WELCOME to Nigel Christian and ThomasGS. Your Member pages are now online on the MyOnlineTeam website. If you would like to drop me an email I'll update your details for you (One day I will make them configurable - one day, honest) If you would like to remain anonymous that's OK by me too, we just like to see those flags from around the globe blowing in the internet breeze on the homepage. My email address can be found on the Team's website at www.myonlineteam.info.

Welcome aboard and thanks for choosing MOT.
(You never know we might get to the 21st in number - any more volunteers?)

Today is going to be a good day on the World Community Grid with Knreed's cryptic thread in member news http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=4245
I'd recommend keeping a close eye on events today - I'll say no more thinking

I'll get my calculator out on the stats for October tonight but as for now I need to go and earn my living worried

Have a great day - don't go switching off
Dave

TARAAAAAA!!! It is there!!!!!

The only thing I don't understand is that there is a dedicated account key
for accessing the WCG project in BOINC. IMHO that means that all users
running the Linux client are identified as the same user and the points
don't seem to be added to your user account...

Does anybody find this in the FAQ or forums?

Best, Stefan.

Stefan,

The account key that you were given is unique to the member name that it was created for. That is a mechanism that BOINC uses to link the linux clients to that account. The same member name can have both linux clients and windows clients registered under it.

Did you register and create a new member name or did you login and use your existing member name?

Kevin

PS. If you have follow up questions can you ask them in one of the support forums? I'm sure others will have the same question - not just your teammates smile

Re: --TOGETHER--

Hi pconfig --

To be honest, I have only had one bottle of Belgian beer. I had a single bottle of Duvel a couple of weeks ago. While I thought it tasted pretty good, it was higher in alcohol than I would prefer. The state of North Carolina within the past couple of months changed the laws on alcohol content allowed in beers. The maximum allowed was only 5% alcohol by volume (I could never figure that one out -- there was no such limit on wines, and of course distilled whiskeys, vodkas and all had no limit as well). Because of this and the fact that most of your beers are higher than 5%, we are only now beginning to see Belgian beers and then only in a very few specialty shops. The bottle I tried came from a shop that specializes in wines. I hope to try others, but I expect that it will be difficult to find them. We do not have anything like standard liquor stores where you can buy beers, wines, and distilled products. All distilled products are sold only in state run shops called "ABC Stores" (from Alcohol Beverage Commission). Beers and wines are available in our grocery stores, but there usually isn't that great a selection of beers available -- perhaps a few German brands and some from what we call micro-breweries. I have not seen any from Belgium where I shop yet. Perhaps you can understand hearing that why I have taken to brewing my own beers.

Hey Dave,

sorry for the somewhat late reply. I didn't know that alcohol was that strongly limited in the USA. Over here in Belgium everybody can buy alcohol as much as he wants. I think law says that beer is forbidden for people beneath the age of 16 but i can remember that i drunk beer since i'm 15 or so. Normally strong alcoholics are forbidden under 18. Yesterday i bought a bottle of 'jenever' 20% without any problems (i'm 16 now...).

About our beers, I think duvel is somewhat 8%? Yeah propably around that. Most beer (well the beer we drink at party's and such) are around 5%. Some names are Stella Artois, Jupiler, Cristal, ... I prefer Jupiler : tongue. I don't drink alot of the so called 'better' beers like Duvel, Leffe and such (except Duvel cool) so i don't have a great knowledge of these beers yet.

Good luck with your homebrew. If i ever come to Seattle, can i come bye and have a taste? biggrin

Greetings

Pconfig --

Of course you may! I am a bit of a distance from Seattle though. Raleigh is about 3000 miles from Seattle and perhaps 8 or 900 miles from New York. The only intenational flights out of our airport are to and from Gatwick in the UK. I am actually brewing a batch as I write this. I had a few minutes to spare as I wait for the pot to come to a boil.
