Do you think it has anything to do with people bring more crunching power on here right now and is just a guesstimate based on extrapolating that as a constant?

& now you see that it's back to 81% & the End month completion date is gone! The estimated end date moved a few days back to 2018-07-29. The warning might be back in a week.A 30 day warning is not much time to make an end-game plan. Many of us don't have that much crunching power. I 2nd that. That's why I'm keeping track of ECDs twice per month. So many of us can plan in advance. They are not as accurate as we want it (to the exact date), but they are better than not having them. As many things do variate: - batches (experiments) of WU - available computer power - seasonal vacations - heat seasons / colds etc. ECD is affected by the factors that you mention KLiK. However, percentage complete is simple and is not affected by those factors. There is a big difference between 24% complete and 84% complete. I know that you have been estimating ECD for quite some time. I would have a nice 10yr UGM badge instead of being a month short if I had paid attention to your estimates in October 2016 instead of the WCG estimates. There was a warning back then and I tried to complete 10 years on MCM before it completed rather than prioritizing on UGM. MCM didn't end and is still running even now, but UCM is the project that quickly ended. That was WCG mis-information back then giving incorrect percentage completion and end dates. ![]() Again, I don't understand the statement that the progress is designed to be inaccurate. We all know that ECD is an estimate, that is what the "E" stands for. However, progress complete is not an estimate and is pretty easy to do when you have the 2 numbers needed at your fingertips, which WCG has. Cheers ![]() Well, those % are done based on many factors. Sometimes the jobs take longer, sometimes part of job is "aborted". There's no certainty in the World, why would it be in WCG research? Probably FAHB will return soon, when FAAH comes back online in the End of the Year. But that's also not certain! How much do you need? Did you do some calc.? Is it 2 cores? 4 cores? 8 threads? If buying computer is too much, you can rent a server for a few months. ![]() |

It is worth noting the 6 month warning has now been removed from the Research Overview page. It might have gone down a few percentage points as well (I think it was 83% or 84%), currently at 82%.
----------------------------------------Edit: A few days have passed and the 6 month warning has returned. Currently 83% and estimated completion July 2018. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Seoulpowergrid at Feb 12, 2018 6:07:05 AM] |
