Hi LM;
----------------------------------------where to begin... I know the different meanings of the word "bimbo" in English and German. If you translate the 4-letter-word I used and which was erased into German it would be way less offensive than "bimbo" (german meaning) That's why I wrote the whole post. We're writng down words with a certain length and there are people putting values on that - offensive, inappropriate or whatelse. In my mind things like that are the first steps to tell people what to think - I know fascism (more or less covered up by something) is on the rise and many people feel good if they can tell others what to say (and in the end: to think). But considering german history I'm really scared if someone tells me, that I can't use a word in a list because somone else (who?) defines it as offensive per se. So - I'll use nice words in the forum and enjoy the freedom of speech here in Germany... ---------------------------------------- [Edit 2 times, last edit by [SG] Thomas Kleinhenn at Feb 22, 2018 8:46:00 PM] |

I agree with you that the most important pillar of liberty is Freedom of Speech, [SG] Thomas Kleinhenn and that your erased post only was offensive if you wanted it to be that. We could have long and interesting discussions about this. I also didn't like being limited and reprimanded, and I don't like to apply self censorship either, which I have done a few times for the sake Forum Family Values and for Political Correctness. And therefore I made my protests as I did, realizing if I want to be on this Forum, I have to submit to the rules and the interpretation of those rules - and enjoy the Freedom of Speech I have in Denmark (and Germany).
I also find the Facebook culture of being offended and policing everything disgusting. I did not know Germany had a 'Bimbo' word until today; that's why you made me confused with that post, and why I'm pleased to know the whole story now. |
