I'd check to see if there have been other people with your motherboard and v4 ES chips.

How do you find out where they were made?
----------------------------------------On mine it clearly say Intel confidential and then next row the S-spec then next row below Costa Rica ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by OldChap at Jan 11, 2018 9:21:14 PM] |

I rang supermicro and they were super helpful but can't help because ES chips are supposed to be property of Intel and Intel won't let them run on the board.
The guy really wanted to help but he couldn't As I already have an X10 board running 2698v4s (but maybe different S-spec), they sent me the earliest bios that can run V4 chips and I am going to try that later and see if that helps. But even though the s-specs are the same, there could be minor differences still as OldChap eluded to. OldCap - My chips say nothing like that at all I am afraid. QuantumEthos - If you look at the photo I posted earlier, both chips have the features highlighted by HWInfo. |

I'd also ask some questions here: http://communities.intel.com
----------------------------------------That community has been very helpful when I had to boot Win10 & had some problems with them. Or was making RAID arrays. ;) |

She's alive!!! By using Bios 2.0 (instead of 2.0B), we booted up and I see 80 threads in task manager.
----------------------------------------After changing the correct cc_config.xml to ncpu =80, all threads are running at 100% too Finally! [Edit 1 times, last edit by vcd683s at Jan 12, 2018 5:20:24 PM] |

@vcd683s Happy to hear it is up and running. Asking around a bit I was told some ES will not run in dual cpu config.
----------------------------------------@KLIK You have my interest, tell me more about running MIP on cores only please ![]() |

Start from this post & read on posts: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=552006 Hope you know how to limit with app_config your computers & don't get "slowdown" 'cause of the app engine. ![]() |
