So will all FightAIDS@Home Phase 2 tasks be Async from now on?

I got one of these WU (50000 steps) on one of my older Win7 machines. It barely made it in the time limit with a run time of over 6 hours and a 0.5 day work buffer in play. The estimated run time for the WU on download was only about an hour so I had a few other WU buffered. If BOINC hadn't bumped the FAH2 WU up to a high priority WU and put an in progress task on hold then it wouldn't have made it in time. You can "prioritize it manually" by temporarily suspending the other units. Just the time to launch the unit(s) you want to prioritize. It works if you have access to the machine, which is not always the case.

Well, these WUs wreck a bit of havoc on my crunching hosts.
----------------------------------------I have only HST (on the off-chance that there are any WUs in fact available) and MCM selected. I used to get pretty much exclusively the later, with some really long runtimes at some hosts. Now I all the sudden get scores of FAH2 WUs as well as MIP1 (which I don't care for right now at all, due to a high number of errors, which I was in turn not able to post about, as I am not able to post in the MIP forum ). And those WUs, specially if they cause errors again, are just preventing my selected MCM WUs to finish it time... Ralf |

Are you sure they are genuine FAH2 and not Beta - do you have Beta selected? Received quite a number of Beta FAH2 Betas WUs here recently - an example

It seems the influx of FAH2 WUs from yesterday has died down, I just got more of the MIP1 WUs, so it might have been just a temporary fluke... Ralf |

The latest FAH2 WUs take around 20 hours on my machine, with only 24 hours to deadline. Even with a small buffer, I can't make it.

Even if it is 25 hours or 26 hours, yours is most assuredly coming back first, and thus recognized for credit, upon which the server instructs the device with the copy to not start the job, rather abort it from the queue. The progress of the science at the desired pace exceeds the incidences of redundancy, thus just stop worrying about this.

At the moment tasks starting with FAH2_xxxxxx up to 001769 have 10000 steps.
----------------------------------------Numbers from 001770 and higher have 50000 steps. Of course this can and will change when new batches are popping up. There are also FAH2 Beta's around starting with 9999. See Beta thread for info on those. |
