Buyer beware

I’ve repaired electronics since 1980.
Beware of buying anything electronic in the months of November and December ( especially black Friday ) as the manufactures sell all the junk sitting in their warehouses.

They do this to reduce their inventory before the end of the year so they pay less taxes on inventory. You might get something good for a low price or a total piece of junk that gathered dust in their returns section. Good luck returning it...

Re: Buyer beware

Thanks for the heads up...they still need to give you receipt, so keep them for guarantee (in EU, it's 2 years). ;)

Re: Buyer beware

Hi,
Does this include products that have just now came out in October?
E.g. Looking at a Dell xps 8930?
Or will they use sub par yields of Intel coffee lake processors?
Very curious now. Thank you.

Re: Buyer beware

One of my local 'High Street' stores put up prices of Motorola phones by 20% for Black Friday. Suckers beware. :-)

On the upside: there are a lot of out-of-lease workstations from HP and Dell on the market in the UK, at idiotic prices for the moment.

I just picked up an 2011 HP Z210 workstation with an i7-2600K for $100. Came with six years supply of dust and furballs.

Not so energy efficiemt as today's models, but it's a fine machine.

Yep. Usually the "daily deals" and the "lightning deals" are the same things, every day. They mark up the msrp, then "drop" the price to make it look like higher savings.
I did manage to pick up a couple of sandisk microsd cards for cheap. The 64GB u3 cards were sitting in my cart at $23US a piece, and on thursday they dropped to $13 each.

That reminds me, I need to find the Firefox STEAM plugin that shows the lowest price for that game, currently and lowest ever. I lost it when my other PC died.
