confused Computer On/Off

Am I supposed to leave my computer on all the time?

I never do and I don't think I will with this but I can't remember what it said before signing up for the WCG.

I would appreciate an answer if someone knows.

Thanks.

Re: Computer On/Off

This is a voluntary project with voluntary time from your computer. You are under no obligation to maintain a certain amount of uptime with your computer simply to fulfill the completion of work units. I would suggest you do what is in your best interest and only run the program when you are able to have the computer up and running.

Cheers,

Re: Computer On/Off

I often leave my computer on, but I either:

1. Log off my account
or
2. Let my computer go into standby mode

Will either of those effect WCG's ability to use my computer?? (I'm running Windows XP pro just in case you're wondering).

Thanks

Re: Computer On/Off

If I'm right, both of them will shut down the program, why not try locking your computer instead of logging off?

Re: Computer On/Off

Just remember if you turn your computer off in the middle of processing the unit you will lose all the time you processed and will have to start from the beginning with a new work unit. I highly doubt you will be credited with any points or CPU time.

Re: Computer On/Off

Is that right that the work is continued on the next time the computer is switched on? Because when I started my computer this afternoon the agent started at 0%.
