I would like to suggest WCG possibly setting up some kind of registration form where volunteers could offer their services to helping the scientists with their code. Since one of the big complaints is the lack for knowledge/time/capability, perhaps taking resumes would be a good idea. Break the form down to include what programming languages the user knows/supports and then allow the researchers access to a list of these individuals in the event that they would like to reach out for additional support. I know there have been a few members of my team interested in assisting in the past and even assisted theskynet for a time in developing a GPU application.
