Please consider changing the Title of:
"Android Support Forum", to (perhaps): "ARM Support Forum (Android, Raspberry Pi, others)", or, start a new forum: "ARM Support Forum (Raspberry Pi, others)" From my post to Android Support Forum/End of BOINC development: "Over 12 Million RPis have been sold, and this from a UK charity only Five years old! I project hundreds of millions of these and similar ARM boards being sold to "ordinary folks"." Further details in my full post there. Thank you, Eddie Maddox Rural McBain MI USA |

+1 removes the need to list endless devices.

+1 for this, I also have few Odroid devices. Additional Linux apps for ARM (32-bit) and AARCH64 (64-bit) would be nice. For ARM you may want to release few versions, which will target CPUs with different float point ABI (soft, softfp, hard) and/or CPU model (e.g. v6l, v7l).
BTW, if you do not have such device to perform tests, you can use Linaro toolchain (https://www.linaro.org/downloads/) and release resulting app as a beta for community testing. Keep in mind that some ARM CPUs supports NEON SIMD instructions. For ARM supports is optional (you need to check CPU capabilities), for AARCH64 it is mandatory. ARM CPUs have 64-bit NEON registers, AARCH64 have 128-bit ones. It would be nice if your apps could use them for faster computing. |

I have many Rpi running 24/7 and crunching for other projects. I really would like them to crunch for WCG! |

I'm a little confused. WCG only supports Android running on ARM at this time, so why would it be listed as ARM support, when Android is the only OS that is currently supported?
I understand if they supported Linux on ARM, but they dont. If people have Pi systems, or odroids, just install android (4.1 or above) and add WCG through the play store. I have two odroid xu4s that have been happily crunching away on WCG for a long time. Or maybe I am just missing the intent of this thread... |

Or maybe I am just missing the intent of this thread... Many of us are not happy to have to use Android for ARM-based devices such as RPi since Raspbian would probably do the job better - i.e. more efficiently - and because the device may be simultaneously used for other purposes not complying/supporting Android. I guess that it is the reason why some people propose to change the name of the forum on "Android". Cheers, Yves |

Before they change the name from Android, they need to convince the scientists to compile a working app to support that change. Until they do, it doesn't matter if the users are satisfied with how they have to set things up. The name should stay as is until they accomplish that task.
