I get tasks that expect to take 6 hours to complete. It's an older machine.
I've told BOINC to only use 60% of my CPU. The 6 hours seems to take alot longer so I'm wondering if the calculated time isn't taking into account the users allocated CPU%. If so the expected end date may be unrealistically early. In my case I tend to leave the machine on so it isn't a problem but a suggestion if you're getting alot of tasks timeout. |

FAIK, the TTC does not take into account the % CPU allowed i.e. 6 hours will not show as 10 hours. BOINC does though track true computing time in a day, to include if you power off parts of the day. Accordingly the amount of work that's really done is corrected to determine the buffered work e.g. if the buffer is set to 1 day, client is only on 12 hours of the day, BOINC will really request 24 * 0.6 * (12 / 24) = 7.2 hours worth, per active processor thread. The control adjusters (on_fraction, active_fraction) is computed over multiple days operation, for those who cant make up their mind, i.e. variable on / off periods of the day.
