Seeing this on a few Macs (haven't seen it on Windows yet, but could have overlooked it):

Seem to recollect this was commented on by techs as something along the lines of Tom Chruise at Daytona messing things up... a race condition.

Re: error - finish file present too long on Mac

I'm seeing lots of these errors on Macs. Is there anything we can do to fix it? It appears to crunch the entire WU successfully, but then gives this error. I have a Mac Pro that's had a few of the error, so if there's client debug settings I should turn on to help troubleshoot, just let me know what needs to be turned on.

Re: error - finish file present too long on Mac

I looked through the stats for Mac results and you are seeing a higher percentage of these than other users but your percentage of occurrences versus your successful results is low. I did not see any patterns in your results that point to a particular OS or client version being the issue.

It has been a while since I looked at this but I looked through my notes and the issue occurs when the client finds the finish file which is written in the end and the application has not exited. If I remember right the period is 10 seconds or so before this condition occurs, so if the finish file has been written to disk and the application process is still running after 10 seconds it occurs. Something is causing the process to hang at finish or take too long to complete. Do you know if any of the machines you are seeing the issue on are typically under a heavy workload other than WCG that could cause the WCG process to get in an extended wait state? You might try on one machine where it is occurring more to set slot_debug, state_debug, and task_debug.

Thanks,
armstrdj
