priority of resends

Resends (in this case _1 s and higher) are sent out with a 4 day return limit. Why are they not sent out with a higher priority to insure that they run in a timely manner? The _2 I got this morning went to one of my slower machines. I pushed it to the top of the queue just to make sure it had a chance to finish before the deadline. This WU's _0 had errored. It's _1 was marked "no reply" even though it had run for 13.3 hours. The runtime estimate on my computer is 32+ hours, but it was sitting at the bottom of the queue. That was the reason I manually pushed it to start now. That is why I would think that a rerun with a 4 day limit should have a higher priority.

Re: priority of resends

Are you the same as Tom who practically started same discussion over at Berkeley wanting a priority button for the short deadline WCG jobs? If the client knows it takes 32 hours, it will normally start that job like no later than 24 hours before deadline plus the estimated runtime. Messing with the queue order prevents the client from learning, so recommend to just sweat it out and let the BOINC scheduler do its thing.

Re: priority of resends

Nope, I'm not Tom. This situation just came to my attention as I was checking on the computers this morning. Thanks for the info. It won't be easy, but I will try to be patient in the future.

God, please give me patience. And I want it NOW! sick
