This maybe a stupid question, however I would like to know how to get my 3 projects that I am running through WCG have all the same run time during the week. It seems to me that one project is taking over my CPU and I would like them to have all the same. I know that it does not matter with the points award just wanted to know if it could be done. Just thought maybe the other 2 projects does not have many WU's in store.

Very long story short: You can't automate this as set/forget **. If you insist, you can micromanage via app_config.xml how many of each run concurrent, but there's bad pitfalls and frowned on behavior eventually (aborting unwanted in-excess tasks).
** There's complex solutions like installing BOINC with permission to run multiple clients, and then each running client linked to a profile with the preferred science. On an octo, 3 clients, with 2 clients allowed to use 3 cores each, and the 3rd client 2 cores. There's virtual machines that can be installed too. That's all for the over the top hobby department AFAIAC. Some members do this, so they could take a long time out explaining, or you could search the web (don't remember an actual set-up discussion on these forums). Be ready to lose some hair while pulling at it while preparing. |

madmac, possilby an easier method, is to set longer term goals - say, for each of the 3 projects you're interested in to aim for the Ruby (180 day) badge, then, once achieved, move onto the next goal - Emerald. That way, you'd be able to select just that 1 project and allow your computer(s) to concentrate on that until the goal is reached.
----------------------------------------Personally, I'm doing this, in having set a Sapphire goal for all the currently active projects (obviously, adjust the goal, to suit), and once achieved, I've moved onto the project that's needing the biggest 'push' to reach that goal. I also try to crunch as few a WU's as I need to 'just get over the line' - i.e., I try to get as near as 2 years as possible, but that's just me ![]() ![]() |

All the other guys answered you correct!

Just thought maybe the other 2 projects does not have many WU's in store. But they didn't tell you WHY you can't do it?! It's the BOINC server that WCG runs & on it WCG sets priorities...so not all projects weight the same! So you can't run 1/3 of each project, unless (by a chance) they have the same weight on WCG server. Check here: http://www.wcgsig.com/projects.html ![]() It's also why I do the ECD calcs for the guys, so that you can "micro-manage" your projects & achieve goals (badges).
