Re: Weekend Puzzles

Since I posted my latest puzzle on a Thursday, I was thinking to post my last hint on a Wednesday. :-)
You think I'm too early with my last hint, Al? I think I have got not any hints left to write.

No, Adri, I don't think you were too early :-)

I must admit I'd forgotten you might post a hint today; if I'd remembered I might not have posted my own hint(s) when I saw Sgt. Joe's latest response...

My response to your hint was because I was wondering if Sgt. Joe might have "got it" without quite such a blatant clue after all (in my view only the puzzle creator should be allowed that hinting privilege)...

As always, I look forward to seeing your "here is the answer" post!

Cheers - Al.

Re: Weekend Puzzles

I have parsed and sequenced this bunch of numbers just about all the ways I can think of and I have not discovered anything which makes a lick of sense. Why does M=3 ? Is this a given or is it derived from something else in the puzzle ? If M=3, then 5 X 3 might be expressed as 3M (ignoring the 5), which is the official name of Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Co.(known world wide for Scotch tape among other things.) I really doubt if this has anything to do with this puzzle. The numbers do not seem to be indicative of any part number from that company.
Once Adri posts the answer I may still be baffled. M=3, 5 X 3, the little diagram, CHAOS and CAMO are undoubtedly hints, but I am not putting any of that together. However this is put together is outside the way of my thinking. Probably non linear.

Interesting, in Al's post 3135 could be CAMO if the first 3 is the third letter of the alphabet, the second letter is the first letter of the alphabet, the third number is the M, equals 3, and the fourth number in the sequence is "O" which is the 15th letter of the alphabet (5 X 3). Now I am just stretching things as far as I can.

Cheers

Re: Weekend Puzzles

Hi Adri,
Many thanks for the latest puzzle. smile
I’ve been scratching my head over this for several days, like Sgt. Joe.
But I think I’ve now cracked it thanks to your and Al’s various hints.
Sgt. Joe, this is the post that helped me most!
Cheers,
Mark

Re: Weekend Puzzles

You're nearly there, Sgt,Joe. However, easily overlooked, the hint did not exactly say "M = 3" (!) sick blushing . M is indeed the thirteenth letter in the alphabet and "I have got not any hints left to write." (Read the underscored text aloud.) You have to think oriented in the right direction, but not in the right direction, so to speak. wink

Re: Weekend Puzzles

M
00011
38159
11110
39863
2110
0643

Transposed would be (right to left from above)
M
11000
95183
01111
36893
0112
3460
OK I see it was
1
M = 3 This could mean M is the thirteenth letter in some unknown sequence.

There is only one spot where a 1 is positioned over a 3. ????

Still ??????????????

Cheers

Good observation, Sgt.Joe! You're coming closer! smile

Let me repeat the puzzle:
M
00011
38159
11110
39863
2110
0643

Re: Weekend Puzzles

OK, I see where "chaos" can be determined from lines 1 and 2. That line is being read left to right. Right now I don't see anything in right to left. Requires more thinking.

Re: Weekend Puzzles

Left to right doesn't yield any good results (yet) either.
