Re: Weekend Puzzles

Gee, after that mistake I think you've got a much better Hint than I do. ;-)

Re: Weekend Puzzles

Well, I had another thought these numbers could be Postal codes for various areas around the world or Zip codes in the USA. One of them is a code for Verchelde, Germany and another one is for Aerdenhout, Netherlands. One was for Korea, Taiwan, and Italy. Unfortunately, there were many for one of the numbers, so I have abandoned this approach. So I am back to square one.

Cheers

Re: Weekend Puzzles

I think it's time to post a hint. This is the hint:

5 × 3

5 × 3

Adri

Not even close to hint for me. Is that 5 times 3 as a multiplication problem or is it a matrix ? There are 6 numbers, four have 5 digits and two have 4 digits. That is 28 digits which is not divisible either three or five. It also does not fit in a 3 by 5 matrix. That still leaves the mysterious "M" which is the thirteenth letter of the alphabet. Thirteen is prime, so it has little to do with either 5's or 3's.
There are six zeroes (or nils), nine 1's, one 2, four 3's, one 4, one 5, two 6's, no 7's, two 8's, and two 9's. That would give this number 6914112022. A number not divisible by either 3 or 5.

I'll bet Al has gotten it by now, but I am still in clueless land.

Cheers

Re: Weekend Puzzles

Sgt. Joe (and anyone else watching?),

O.K. -- Let's see if I can stimulate the synapses...

Adri's original post for this puzzle implied that this was related to the future in some way. In fact, it's probably more of the "past, present and future" than just the future!

In my first reply I credited you (Sgt. Joe) with making me realize that "I was looking at it in the wrong way" because as soon as I stopped treating the big numbers as something meaningful in their own right I sussed what was going on! -- Adri's 5x3 is thus as good a further hint as anything I could say that wouldn't actually make a gift of the solution.

Also, reconsider what you just said about M and 13 when you look at the data again -- you primed yourself (excuse the pun) with a wrong assumption :-)

Good luck - Al.

P.S. -- amongst other possibilities, I thought about posting another sequence of numbers on the same topic, but I couldn't decide on the best way of several to go about it! I love a challenge, but...

As Adri originally said, CHAOS!

O.K. -- I'll try to predict the future (with the same CAMOflague) -- I think I've got this right (but Adri will put me right if I haven't!...)

Edited to remove an unnecessary ']' that got left behind in the previous edit!

Re: Weekend Puzzles

Adri,

That was the sort of hint I was trying not to give quite so directly, as you may have noticed :-) --- Ah, well...

Cheers - Al.
