However, the releases have been well spaced and not large. The most recent release was about an hour ago.

Don't be confused by the beta workunits being only 32 bit themselves at present, while a bug in the 64 bit workunits is resolved. The 32 bit workunits can run on both 32 bit and 64 bit OSs.

I am still considering the granted credit rate as a performance / efficiency indicator. If you're right - and I assume you are - my concern is related to the number of hosts running Windows and being significantly less efficient as a Linux based system: it is terrible and huge wasted energy. Since I am not willing to push everybody to Linux (even if I prefer Linux), in terms of environmental protection, it is more than necessary to improve such science or to recommend to not select it for non Linux machines.
At the other side, I was not aware (did not check it and maybe missed the info) that the new science is not VINA-based. Based on the raw CPU performance, I am still considering that we face a performance issue; and performance issues represent efficiency issues. Based on the number of hosts computing for WCG, the negative impact on the EP consumption is not negligible.
