Hi KLiK
----------------------------------------YES, I know all apps run CPU + GPU...but if you could only pause CPU only apps without pausing the CPU + GPU, that would be a nice feature in some cases! Ah OK, I'll forward that one. You may want to make it a Github issue though, as a feature request. https://github.com/BOINC/boinc/issues ad e) so if <i get you right, I could ask someone to just make a version for Ubuntu, which will work only on Ubuntu? It may work on other distros that use similar libraries, but in other words, yes, that's the essence. However, the 'just making' part is difficult, as even the volunteer developers have trouble building BOINC for Linux. However, as always, YMMV. Let us know your outcome. :)

Please, remind them of porting BOINC with app (so no download of apps after install) on iOS would be nice to have. Suggestion have been made here: https://github.com/BOINC/boinc/issues/1376 No progress or feed-back was received...can we have BOINC+app install & then download only WUs for a use on some projects? ad e) so if <i get you right, I could ask someone to just make a version for Ubuntu, which will work only on Ubuntu? Just a quick comment on this discussion.
----------------------------------------The first initiative of the committee is look at how the BOINC open source project is operating, identify barriers for new developers to contribute and how to make it more inviting for developers to contribute to the project. The BOINC project has a set of users/volunteers that are, overall, heavily skewed to people who are themselves developers. If you look at our user survey from 2013 (https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/viewNewsArticle.do?articleId=323) you will see that more than 1/3 identified as working in IT. Given the passion that so many people have for this type of participation, we would expect to see greater participation at the BOINC project level then we have now. If some of the issues that are preventing that developer engagement can be resolved, then hopefully we will see more developers contributing code and implementing features. If that is successful, then hopefully there will be developers able to start working through feature lists that users have created and expressed a desire for. Hello everyone,
----------------------------------------Going on the question about GPUs would it be possible to have a setting to switch between working exclusively on GPU work unit and then switch back to working on CPU work units? I own a laptop with a decent GPU, but when I have to run both CPU and GPU tasks together the laptop naturally becomes really hot. I believe there is a way to do it manually but a setting that allows a user to specify a time for GPU tasks to run and for CPU tasks to run would be really helpful. For example I can set my laptop to work on GPUgrid or SETI gpu work units to be work on Saturdays and then rest of the week would be WGU workunits. Or even after 6 hours of working on CPU workunits work 2 hours running GPU units. ![]() |

"there is no way to define a inclusion time spanning calendar days, like running outside of the typical "9 to 5"," Been there, done that, keep getting the error message that "start time needs to be smaller than the end time" or something pretty close to that meaning...There is, even wrote an FAQ for it with networking samples, equally applying to cpu/gpu use. i.e. you can set 17 to 9. Just so you know, this work group isn't some low people who were aimlessly waiting around in the lobby of some university, instead as I hinted in some posts already, these people aren't the least in BOINC, they do have something to say. They are senior project scientists and administrators, and other significant contributors. Interesting that nobody from Rosetta@Home is on that list... Meet: - Christian Beer - Einstein@Home - David Wallom - Climateprediction.net - Eric Korpela - Seti@Home - Kevin Reed - IBM/World Community Grid - Laurence Field - CERN/LHC - Tristan Olive - Grid Republic - David Anderson - BOINC Ralf ![]() |

Ralf Strange, just went to 7.6.33 to check if something changed. Had 02:11 and 02:06 under Computing (makes the client pause from 2:06 to 2:11 for my purposes), and reentered 02:15 and 02:06 and saved. No qualms. See no checkins that changed the code, so guess it's SOAL for you, but it has been possible since at least when I wrote that FAQ, on the clients that I've been using over time (many). |

For Jord's team to test in latest code, but 7.6.33 64 bit on Windows still works as de doctor prescribed, bot general and daily override setting, in fact it will throw a spanner in the works for many that previously confirmed it worked for them too.

For Jord's team to test in latest code Jord's team has different things to work on, but in the mean time I started my BOINC 7.8.0 which has the daily schedules set to every day bar Sat-Sun, to only compute between 21:05 and 06:00, which shows at the end in the log: 27/07/2017 11:53:01 | | Suspending computation - time of day The other user may want to check that they have the correct values. it runs from 00:00 - 23:59, with a colon between numbers. Also make sure Activity is set the "run based on preferences", although that doesn't give the error message.

A forced error message actually shows the format in which to enter the times, the FAQ screenshot does too. ;O)
(Maybe the hover pop-ups for the fields could include hh:mm or something like that) |
