Invalid Results

Several invalids on a very reliable machine. Maybe related to the recent outage?

One example:

Result Name: FAH2_ 000890_ zinc01113989_ 000002_ 0016_ 029_ 0--

I just looked at all my results for FAH2 The VALIDS all completed before the outage or started running after the outage. Any that were running during the outage are INVALID. The problem may be Trickles that are out of order.

VALID finished BEFORE OUTAGE.

angry Re: Invalid Results

I suspect you are right, I have 32 invalid WUs and all of them were finally uploaded by my two hosts at 6/26/17 20:36:32 and 6/26/17 21:06:10. BOINC credit has been given for 2 of them which have subsequently been reissued and reprocessed. Perhaps credit for the other 30 will trickle in....but I have no idea what the impact will be on my project time. I was winding down counting the number of WUs needed to get to 5 years in the absence of credit which now leaves me needing between -6 and 26 extra WUs, depending on whether the 32 will count towards my project time. I'll switch projects, abort 6 WUs and see how it plays out. and come back for whatever turns out to be needed.

Re: Invalid Results

Greetings,

I will take a look at this today. I have not scheduled anything to be deleted for FAH2 yet. This means I can go back and see what the errors were for specific work units and results. It may take me a few hours to figure out what the problem is. Raif_son, thank you for the examples of ones that ran during the outage, that will give me a great place to start.

Note, you should still get 100% credit for the invalid results as well as counting time towards your badges.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Re: Invalid Results

Ok, I'm digging into it and I'm seeing something strange. One of the files that is reported by the BOINC client is not the same md5sum that was reported in the trickle message. The trickle message md5sum matches what is actually on our system. This doesn't happen for every file. So, I'm trying to see if there is a proper way to validate these results.

Thanks,
-Uplinger
