I am burning in a server right now, and figured I would use WCG to do part of the CPU testing to make sure it doesn't crash. It installed properly, registered, and goes to download a unit.
It downloads a unit, and then pauses... I know this is a problem for some machines with too little RAM. But this is a new server with dual xeons and 2GB of RAM. I've installed the UD agent on other Server 2003 platforms before, but they were only with 1GB of RAM. Compatibility issues with our system here or is WCG down or something? I didn't think so since I could download a unit... Any help would be appreciated. |

And I should mention that there are no firewalls or antivirus programs which are blocking the program from receiving or sending results etc. I have sent and received WUs from the same location without a problem, it is just this one machine.
I have disabled the antivirus just in case, and that did not do anything. There is no firewall installed locally on the machine. The Cisco firewall that we have is OK since I have sent WUs over the same connection through my laptop. Any ideas? TIA! |

Nevermind, resolved the issue after some extensive searching...
For anybody who may find this later, the issue was resolved by setting DEP to protect only essential Windows services (like turning it off in XPSP2, but in Server 2003 you can't just turn it all off). Primary task was executing and crunching away on some Xeons. :) |

Hello Chowbow,
Glad to hear that you narrowed it down to the DEP settings. I will try to remember that for the future. mycrofth |
