Is it worth getting the Nvidia Tesla C2075 or C2090 for WCG?
I already have an AMD FirePro V7900 and would like to know if it would work with it. I want to do other graphic stuff with the V7900 and have WCG work with the Nvidia card. |

WCG currently has no projects that can use GPU's.

Not for just this I also do Rosetta too. I guess I'm asking if my FirePro V7900 will work with the Nvidia Tesla C2090.

Rosetta@home also doesn't have ay GPU applications.
----------------------------------------As for whether the two will work, I don't know. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

Mixing AMD (ATI) and Nvidia cards has always been a nightmare in systems I have tried it in (windows based systems). The drivers just don't play well together. I would suggest getting cards of at minimum the same make, and if possible I would try for the same family of cards as well (keep the GTX cards with other GTX, Teslas with other Teslas, etc...)

A member of my team has crunched/folded with an AMD and NV card in the same system. I think he said to install the AMD driver then NV driver.
----------------------------------------Mixing NV card generations is also OK. ![]() |

The Tesla card has no video output its just a number cruncher. Like the ones they have in some of the Supercomputers around the world.

GPU is much powerful than CPU |

That means you don't understand how GPU's function. Not all applications can be coded to work on a GPU. Even some that can will not see any increased benefit. That is why many capable projects still don't use them.
----------------------------------------Yes you can run AMD, nVidia, and Intel GPU's/APU's/IGPU's all in the same box. Yes it can be a headache. Yes you can run multiple generations of cards in the same box. It can as well be a headache. It all depends on the project and their applications as well as whether you are supporting multiple GPU projects at the same time. In sum, as other said, it is best to keep the generations and platforms separate to minimize headaches when possible. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
