Hello everyone,
The Help Stop TB team recently provided a project update that describes the most recent step in their analysis of the data they've received so far. Thanks to everyone who is supporting this project! ErikaT |

Thanks for the update, but to be honest this keeps me speechless in one point:
----------------------------------------This will enable us to efficiently process the heaps of data we’re receiving from the simulations conducted by World Community Grid volunteers While I'm writing this nine tasks were returned today. Wow! Sorry, I'm not sure if I should laugh out loud or better be crying. ![]() |

That was simply luck because I have added 103 cores to the project from day one of the project. In the beginning of this project there were plenty of wu available.
----------------------------------------This project taught me to switch immediately to a new project because you'll never know if you'll get a second chance. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Eric_Kaiser at Feb 28, 2017 5:59:53 PM] |

It's good to hear from the actual scientists on their progress with this project, although it certainly would also have been nice to hear as to how things are looking at this side of the equation - as, after all, as has been pretty obvious for some time now, this project isn't going quite as fast as others. Why?, and is there any sign of a change?
----------------------------------------I'm sure that the project scientists know that there's a forum here - and, although I'm certainly not expecting them to be posting on here every day, once in a while (say, minimum of one post/month), would most definitely be appreciated. ![]() |

There were 22 WUs in total returned yesterday. There was a time when I personally crunched more HSTB than that.
----------------------------------------So what's up? Since our previous mini update in November, Athina has been focusing on analysing our simulation data, and at the same time she is writing up her PhD thesis. A PhD thesis is important and hard work. It would be understandable if that has been the main priority. Many of us have been there. Schoolwork does come first. If Athina hasn't been able generate work (my guess), then we can patiently wait. A terrific thesis is more important than our badge hunt. Cheers ![]() ![]() |

Thanks everyone for your patience.
The pace of the project has been determined by several factors, most recently due to technical issues accessing the researchers' servers which stopped us from building new work. Those issues have been resolved so we expect to see the supply of work units increase and a more steady pace of work going forward. And appreciate everyone's support as Athina focuses on her thesis. Many thanks, Juan |

Thanks Juan for coming by this thread and explaining as to what's been happening. Now, if we'd have had that explanation several weeks ago, there'd have been far less speculation and concern over the future of this particular science - although thankfully, things certainly seem to be back up and running again. Long may that last
