Hiya,
----------------------------------------I have a windows 10 laptop that crunches 24/7 and it only gets used at work, then I leave it to crunch whilst I am away (without an internet connection). I just came into the office to do some work and found that it wasn't crunching. Upon further investigation, it has suspended itself and from the events log, I found... 28/01/2017 09:12:15 | World Community Grid | Backing off 00:01:30 on upload of FAH2_000920_zinc01193017_000008_0010_009_1_r1637051086_9 28/01/2017 09:12:16 | World Community Grid | Temporarily failed upload of FAH2_000920_zinc01193017_000008_0010_009_1_r1637051086_1: can't resolve hostname 28/01/2017 09:12:16 | World Community Grid | Backing off 00:01:52 on upload of FAH2_000920_zinc01193017_000008_0010_009_1_r1637051086_1 28/01/2017 09:12:16 | World Community Grid | Started upload of FAH2_000992_zinc02811339_000007_0016_009_2_r180720439_17 28/01/2017 09:12:16 | World Community Grid | Started upload of FAH2_000920_zinc01193017_000008_0010_009_1_r1637051086_5 28/01/2017 09:12:17 | | Windows is suspending operations 28/01/2017 09:12:17 | | Suspending network activity - requested by operating system 28/01/2017 09:12:20 | | Resuming after OS suspension 29/01/2017 19:10:38 | | Resuming network activity 29/01/2017 19:10:38 | World Community Grid | Started upload of FAH2_000992_zinc02811339_000004_0011_009_3_r1938782631_6 29/01/2017 19:10:38 | World Community Grid | Started upload of FAH2_000992_zinc02811339_000004_0011_009_3_r1938782631_16 29/01/2017 19:10:38 | World Community Grid | Sending scheduler request: To send trickle-up message. 29/01/2017 19:10:38 | World Community Grid | Reporting 1 completed tasks 29/01/2017 19:10:38 | World Community Grid | Not requesting tasks: too many uploads in progress 29/01/2017 19:10:41 | | Windows is resuming operations 29/01/2017 19:10:41 | | Resuming computation 29/01/2017 19:10:41 | World Community Grid | Temporarily failed upload of FAH2_000992_zinc02811339_000004_0011_009_3_r1938782631_6: can't resolve hostname 29/01/2017 19:10:41 | World Community Grid | Backing off 00:01:00 on upload of FAH2_000992_zinc02811339_000004_0011_009_3_r1938782631_6 29/01/2017 19:10:41 | World Community Grid | Temporarily failed upload of FAH2_000992_zinc02811339_000004_0011_009_3_r1938782631_16: can't resolve hostname I've gone through all the power options setting and found all the settings were to not hibernate/sleep whilst plugged in. Any ideas? I'm running WCG version 7.2.47 (x86) and Windows 10 home. Edit - Ooops, should have read wasn't crunching! [Edit 1 times, last edit by vcd683s at Jan 29, 2017 12:43:49 PM] |

That's a problem on network, with your proxy in firm...not a Windows! ;)

connect internet and it will clear out all pending uploads. It should resume normal operation. Also a reboot might not hurt.

Sorry, my post had a wording error.
The computer wasn't crunching as windows had suspended operations. I want to know, how can I stop windows from suspending operations so that the computer will crunch over the weekend or whilst I am away for periods of time? |

Type in the Cortana start bar box Power Plan or Power Settings and chose the performance you want, mine het to High Performance. On my UPS supported PC there's choice for 'On Battery' and 'Plugged In' with a line 'Put the computer to sleep', which when plugged in is set for me as Never, and on Battery at 15 minutes. Many settings under 'Change advanced power settings', mine set to then hibernate when on battery for 15 minutes.

go to BOINC -> Tools -> Computer preferences -> "Processor usage" page
----------------------------------------put option "While processor usage is on" on 0% That will make ALL the difference! ![]() |

Hey,
KLik - It's already set like that. It's not boinc that is suspending operations, but windows. SekeRob - That was the first thing I checked when I found this issue. Everything apart from the power button setting is set to Max performance or do nothing. I really am at a loss. |

For your chosen Power Plan, under Change advanced power settings, expand the Sleep item, then look at the settings for each of Sleep After, Allow hybrid sleep, and Hibernate after. Make sure they are all set to Never. I've read that Allow hybrid sleep = On can cause your problem.

I'm pretty sure I have already set them all to never but will check when I get back to the laptop again
