micro atx for crunching

Working on picking/putting together my first desktop since 2000 (have just been using laptops for school and such)

My question is for Boinc and WCG is a micro atx motherboard sufficient for running 24/7, specifically the vrm and voltage smoothing. was going with an i5, 1050 gtx, 8gb ram, ssd 120, 500wgb psu, staying under 500 dollars. for general home use and light gaming. Linux Mint.

I like that AMD FX series I can get more cores, but with ryzen coming out I dont want to buy into a dead architecture mobo. Thanks!
